Poker Variations
Poker is one of the most popular games with a worldwide audience. It is played in over 20 countries and there are more people playing poker online than ever before. There are many different variations of poker, each with its own rules and strategy. Poker is a group of card games where players wager between one to five (often lower than the normal casinos) and then try to beat the dealer. There are three distinct styles of poker, Texas Holdem, Omaha and Five Card Stud. If you want to play poker, the Internet is a great resource because there are now several online poker rooms available where you can register, login and start playing poker.
There are several poker variations, including No Limit, High Card, Draw Poker, Three Card Stud and Caribbean Stud. No Limit is the most straightforward of the poker variations and is played with a maximum of two and a half players. High Card and Draw Poker are played with three or four players. High Card Stud is an interesting variation in which there is always at least one card on each table, with the match being completely based on betting. This variation is rarely won, but can be very rewarding because the game can be quite exciting and unpredictable.
Caribbean Stud Poker is one of the oldest of all the variations and involves betting from one to five and then trying to remove the top card from the deck without revealing which card it is. It is often considered a high risk poker because there is no way to tell what the cards are beforehand, which makes the game very challenging to play. In Omaha, all of the cards are dealt from the flop and the person with the highest hand usually wins. This is often a low stakes Omaha game where the big pots are made using the wide range of Omaha HiLo and Omaha8 tournaments.
