Poker – An Easy Game to Learn

Poker is any of many card games where players bet over which hand is higher based on the rules of the game as such. For poker, each player has two cards and uses these to take turns and deal out cards. At the end of the hand, if the player has the highest hand, they win. The most common variation of poker is Texas Holdem, named after the state that it originated from.

In seven-card stud, each player is dealt a hand, then the flop, and then another hand. After the flop, players can either stay on the table until there are at least seven cards or fold, depending on the hand ranking. Then, on the turn, players can either call or raise, depending on their standings. After the turn, the players may switch places and go through another round of betting before the final round of betting.

A dead hand means that there are no cards left to be played in the round. This will result in the dealer dealing out another card, known as the last card, to the players who are left. The last card in a seven-card stud game will always be a seven, and all other cards can be considered non-cards. In stud, the last card dealt is known as the ace, king, queen, deuce, syndicates (if there are five players left), Jacks or Better, seven-card stud, straight, four-of-a-hand (first five cards dealt) or any other special category. The last card in Texas Holdem and Draw Poker are known as the ‘turn’ and is used when there is a draw.
