How to Play Poker

In the game of poker, each player receives five cards from the dealer. The highest-ranked hand wins the pot, while the lower-ranked hands are thrown out. In the event of a tie, the high-card player breaks the tie. This is because the higher-ranking hand is the winner. Depending on the rules of the game, there are three main ways to win a poker game: by having the highest ranking hand, betting on a pair of twos, or by having the highest-ranking hand.

When playing poker, players are required to buy poker chips. Each chip has a different value, but they must be the same value. In games with seven or more players, the chips should be provided. Usually, a white chip is worth five cents. A red chip is worth ten or twenty or fifty cents. A blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds. Each player “buys in” by purchasing chips, usually for the same amount.

Poker is played with poker chips. If there are seven or more players, the table should provide poker chips for each player. Each chip has a different value. A white chip is worth one cent. Red chips are worth five cents, while blue chips are worth ten, twenty, or thirty cents. In order to play, each player purchases a chip. Typically, each player buys in for the same amount of chips. If everyone is betting, the highest-ranking hand will win.
