Online Banking Is For Everyone
Online Banking Is For Everyone
In this series of articles, we’ve looked at how people use the web (and therefore the potential misuse of online space). But you can’t always be sure what a person is doing online, even if they cloak their activity behind a user name. For example, one of my co-workers just cleared out his entire computer desk, replacing everything, including a chair. Before he left, however, he quickly went online and cleared out an additional five or six folders that had nothing to do with his online activities.
So what did he do? He went online and began to do some offline browsing, using the same internet connection as his online computer. In other words, he was logged onto the internet but was not taking advantage of it, in the classic sense of the phrase. He was offline. His lack of online activity demonstrated that he was not using his computer for “online shopping” as some people do, nor was he using it for any form of file sharing or other offline activities.
Here’s another example, a man who lives in rural Australia. This guy obviously has access to high-speed broadband satellite Internet rather than cable or DSL. Because he has this service, he can log on to his home network, which he does frequently, and use all of his online facilities without being in the local state. He does this without being locked into the local state bounds of the internet because he has the right online state to do so.
Now, let’s say you are doing a simple online banking transactions with a bank in the next town over. You go to your online banking website and use your local credit card to make your purchase. When you enter your credit card information to complete your transaction, you are redirected from the local bank’s website to the online bank’s website. Your account is now in the online bank’s system, and you have completed one simple online banking transaction. If you had used a different type of internet connection, such as dial up, you may have been redirected to a different site, which would cause your entire banking experience to be delayed.
With today’s online banking systems, you are able to conduct multiple online banking transactions with minimal interruption to your primary banking system. Your online banking transactions are processed immediately. There is no need for a deposit, an ATM card or access to a computer to accomplish your financial transactions. All transactions are handled automatically by the online banking system. The only thing you need to do is check your account information and make sure that everything is correct.
As we stated earlier, there is no local area limitations to online banking. An individual can conduct all of his or her financial transactions through the internet. There is no regional limit on how the money can be spent, either. This freedom of access is what makes online banking so exciting. However, with this freedom comes the responsibility to make certain that the financial information you transmit is secure from people who do not know the security codes or passwords associated with your accounts.
