In poker, the player makes a decision on whether to raise or fold before the river. If the caller raises, the raiser has to check for a bluff, and the players who don’t bluff don’t have a chance. Almost all forms of poker are played with poker chips, and the number of chips is determined by the number of players. The lowest value chip is the white chip. The next highest is the red chip. Each chip is worth two, four, or five reds. Players buy into a game by purchasing a certain number of chips, typically the same amount. However, in some variations, the “r” is added to confuse the players who are familiar with the slang.

There is evidence of a seedy origin for poker. Many of the games in the Orient used the word “poke” to cheat unsuspecting opponents. Pickpockets used this term to entice players. In order to keep the game secret, the word “r” was added to the name. As the game is a simple, logical game with a hint of cheating, poker has a long history.
